1:1 is the lowest-risk ratio in advertising. At 1080×1080 px it renders without cropping on Meta feed, Amazon, Shopify, Google Display, LinkedIn and Marketplace, which is why catalogue and dynamic product ads default to it.
What 1:1 means
A square frame: width equals height. There is no calculation — the only decision is resolution. 1080×1080 is the recommended minimum for paid social; marketplaces such as Amazon prefer 2000×2000 or larger so buyers can zoom.
