2:1 is the tidiest wide ratio: exactly twice as wide as tall. It is a favourite for email headers and blog covers because the maths never produces a fractional pixel.
What 2:1 means
A 2:1 frame is 2 times wider than it is tall — halve the width to get the height. Exact sizes: 1200×600, 1600×800, 2400×1200.
Where it is used
Email hero banners, blog and article covers, wide display units, and X/Twitter in-stream images (which render close to 2:1).

Working with 2:1
- 011200×600 is the safest email hero: it fits a 600 px template at 2× density.
- 02Keep the subject centred; email clients crop the sides on narrow screens.
- 03For link previews prefer 1.91:1 — 2:1 gets a thin crop on some platforms.
